Doing an excellent photoshop course: a wonderful opportunity to play with bright colours during this grey sunless winter. Can't help noticing that those who designed photoshop knew their art history, especially the 20th century. Coloured buildings Morning Double image Nightclub
Went to Tate Modern. Particularly struck by a red Barnett Newman painting. The colour seemed to float above the canvas. Brought to mind how I'd been influenced by Motherwell's 'colour field' paintings back in the Seventies, particularly for the middle movement of the Symphony in Three Movements.
A wonderful sense of limitless scale and space, which I like when visiting the US. Also loved the musicality of one of Pollock's Summer scroll-like paintings. Claudette saw the dancing figures in it. Sometimes earlier enthusiasms fade, but not with these paintings. |
